Wyclef Jean - "Turn Me Good" [Video]

Vibe says it's "grown and sexy." Rolling Stone calls it "sultry." Revolt describes the video as "seductive." Wyclef Jean announced his video on Twitter with his own warning that "this song will make you 'make love all night.' I am not responsible for 2am texts to your ex." This new Marvin Gaye-inspired "Turn Me Good" video is one for the masses with a level of swagger and style that few artists can deliver.

Since the release of his Carnival III: Fall and Rise of a Refugee album last month, Wyclef has been on a promotional tear. And it's been a diverse one, too. One day he's the Grand Marshal at the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, which he then follows up shortly after with a TED Talk in New Jersey. A VH1 Save the Music performance and Grammy Museum opening day presentation serve as solid reminders of the massive clout he brings with him everywhere he goes. He also flexes his benevolent side with his participation in the Global Citizens Forum in Montenegro in mid-October.

While his previous video for "What Happened To Love" was a sunny, bombastic, outdoor party, "Turn Me Good" is like the late night after party. Set in a dark, smoky jazz club, the video features Wyclef behind the mic serenading a sepia-toned room, complete with a trove of stunningly beautiful dancers at his side. As he professes his love and affection for his lover, a secondary narrative plays out of Wyclef and his girl cruising the town in a Porsche stretch limo fit for a king.

Director Jose Javy Ferrer subtly works the editing of the video to a T to enhance each movement, each breath, and each shot to perfection. The lights drop out on cue with the lyrics, the video on her iPhone screen seamlessly transitions into the proper music video, and more. It's not relying on flashy tricks or layers of effects, but rather just the creative eye of a team with a vision. The beauty of the video is in its simplicity.
