Laying on the floor of his unfinished basement studio in Beachwood Canyon, Graham Bockmiller realized it was time to go out on his own. The LA-based band Great White Buffalo had run its course, leaving him unsure what would come next. Graham spent the next year holed up inside his studio by himself; contemplating life, writing, collecting nude calendars of Eastern European women suggestively holding large trophy carp, and experimenting with the raw recording skills he had taught himself. Inspired by artists like Queens of the Stone Age, Foals, and HEALTH, he began exploring new sounds and textures outside of the traditional rock staples of guitar, drums, and bass – testing the limits of his DIY recording chops in search for a more interesting, vibier sound. These songs would later become the beginning of Yacht Punk.
Graham tinkered on demos until a chance meeting with Michael Pozzi (guitar) at Davey Wayne’s on Hollywood Boulevard. Michael was all-in on the project after visiting the studio and hearing where the music was going, and they were soon joined by Graham’s roommate Tricky (drums, no discernible first or last name) and Justin Ricard (bass). They took the demos to producer and indie-rock guru Matt Wignall’s (Cold War Kids, Mando Diao, J. Roddy Walston and the Business) eclectic Tackyland studio in Long Beach. In his converted garage studio (where “Hang Me Out to Dry” was recorded), Wignall took the music to further and weirder places with his unique production black magic. Afterwards, the band brought the tracks back to LA, where they were finished with mixer/engineer Will Brierre (The Killers “Hot Fuss”).
So here it is. Yacht Punk sounds like Stephen King’s movie Maximum Overdrive took a handful of downers. It has something to do with free-basing weed wax off nice silverware you heated up on an electric stove. It’s drinking daiquiris out of a hollowed-out pineapple at a vampire bar, flying on acid. It’s doing hippie-flips in the desert while eating steak dinner with a roommates’ retired relatives, having a black dumpster cat named Mazzy Star, and destroying another pair of white Converse. No, they don't ride on yachts and they don't play punk.
Jake&Papa are a soulful duo comprised of two talented brothers (formerly Brutha) based out of Los Angeles. Currently on tour across the United States, Jake&Papa are gearing up to perform alongside Xavier Omar and Jesse Baez for the Red Bull Sound Select “30 Days in Chicago" event on November 28th. If you’re new to their music go check out the recently released melodic Tattoos&Blues EP on Soundcloud and peep the visuals for “Where I Belong” on Youtube. Word on the street or if you’re reading between the lines of Jake&Papa’s twitter feed is that they’re gearing up to release Part II of Tattoos&Blues as a follow up to Part I.
Their sound can be classed as a hybrid of classic 90s & contemporary R&B. Everyone wants to know where the “real R&B” went and the answer is nowhere but Jake&Papa are here to restore that desire. What’s even more exciting than their sound is their stage presence and ability to control the crowd even in a cold market. Speaking of performing, Jake&Papa hit the road alongside Tory Lanez in 2015 for the west coast leg of his SWAVENATION Tour.
Lyves has revealed her brand new song, ‘Cover Me’. The release comes soon after recent new single ‘Holding Back’, which was released last month.
Earlier this year, following the release of her debut EP ‘Like Water’, Lyves joined Coldplay on 15 dates of their ‘A Head Full of Dreams’ tour - playing to packed stadiums across Europe. The time on the road has allowed her to hone in on her musical style and begin to explore new sounds.
‘Cover Me’, which is produced by Lyves along with Will Night, is an evolution of her unique, spacious R&B sound. Where ‘Holding Back’ led with haunting pianos and luscious strings; ‘Cover Me’ is a further exploration into her electronic core. Slowly building synth chords and stabs are enhanced with percussive elements echoing trip-hop, yet remaining beautifully subtle.
Lyves said: “I wrote ‘Cover Me’ around 3 years ago, but it ended up as a lost, unfinished demo until I came across it again by accident this year while writing in Devon. Hearing it after so long re-ignited how I first felt writing it and led me to finish the song. I feel the song speaks about the tug and pull in relationships - that internal conflict that can arise between wanting stability and security vs independence”.
Lyves is the alias of Francesca Bergami. Her emotive lyrical themes and alternative route into performing have set her apart from most other artists and earned critical acclaim for her early releases.
Shying away from a career in music, fearing it was unattainable, Francesca went to Goldsmith’s to study psychology before embarking on a career as a support worker for young people in care and later a mental health advocate where she worked at a psychiatric hospitals. It was at this point – nine years ago – that Francesca realised there was something missing in her life. Her secret needed to become a full-blown creative endeavour. Francesca got her hands on a keyboard and embarked on the task of learning to play, she advertised for a band on Gumtree and started to perform live to an audience for the first time since she was thirteen. Citing influences as diverse as Enya, Tupac, Moby and Philip Glass, Francesca is deeply inspired by music that speaks to the quiet of one’s heart.
The world started to take notice when she publicised her first release ‘Visions’, which paved the way for her debut EP ‘Like Water’ released in January 2017. These early releases consistently earning her top positions in Hype Machine along with critical acclaim.
With a voice that can be both emotive and empowering at once, Francesca sings of loss, adaption, and survival. “That’s my aim, to be as honest and real as possible, my hope is that it speaks to people,” says Francesca. “I don’t want it to be about me. I want the music to speak for itself and possibly give something. That’s what fuels my passion”
“Lyves demands attention” - Pigeons & Planes
“The sheer emotional weight of the London artist's work is breathtaking” - CLASH
“Lyves’ vocal just blows us away” - PressPLAY
“Both personal and conscious” - MTV
Both ‘Holding Back’ and ‘Cover Me’ are being released with PRSF funding, as Lyves was recently awarded the ‘Women Make Music’ grant.

Snoh Aalegra releases the single “Sometimes” featuring Logic from her forthcoming debut album FEELS, out this Friday, October 20th. The track was featured on Apple Music’s Beats 1 as Zane Lowe’s World Record.
Aalegra says of the track, “’Sometimes’ is about how life points you in different directions though we are all ultimately the master of our own individual destinies. We all have the power to steer the wheel to where we want to take ourselves, but you inevitably have things happen to you that you have no control over. You have to deal with these things whether you like it or not, and you have to readjust, rethink and refocus.”
As or Logic’s involvement, she states, “Logic was the perfect person for this song. I’ve known him since before he put out his first album. We used to record in the same studio years ago with No ID. I think it goes without saying that Logic has a strong and powerful message in his artistic deliveries and has a very beautiful mind. I’m so thrilled to have him be a part of FEELS.”

Maximani is a 25-year-old Dixtro-producer - Dixtro is his own blend of Disco and Complextro with funky elements mixed with the EDM genre's more poppy and catchy melody world.
In Maximani's future bass-funky soundscape lays an undertone of fervency which wants to transform into other genres but gets restrained by the slow bpm and stays within the penetrating power of pop music.
Maximani started to write and produce 2013 and was soon asked to remix an old Swedish funk legend (Paulo Mendonca - "Me and my friends.)
When Maximani decided to start producing more music where he sings himself he ended up in a studio complex with ,amongst others, Albin Myers, Familjen and John Dahlbäck There, Maximani was asked by Aviciis manager to do a cover of one of his acts 'CAZZETTE' . This resulted in a track where Maximani did all the instruments solely with his mouth and fingers.
Not long afterwards Maximani released "Drop This Beat" that entered the dance floor Spotify Digster lists and quickly got more than 200,000 spins.
With a personal, emotional text about a lost love combined with a razor sharp beat that cuts through the heart' Maximani hope to take the next step in his career.

MALINE
Maline as a songwriter had successes in Asia with music that has been laying on the top charts for months with the Korean girlband Red Velvet, (the song ”Fool” on the album Russian Roulette). She’s been writing music for Lithuania and Moldova for their competitions before ESC and has also written music for swedish artists such as Rebecka Karlsson, (winner of Idol). Maline is currently focusing on new material for herself.
Maline thinks that the collaboration with Maximani has been natural from the start and that they complement each well. She says that the tune ”Longer Road” is just one out of many songs they’ll end up doing together. She feels like the storyline and the vibe of the song came to them quickly and that it felt like they just needed to put all the pieces together. ”It’s definitely a pleasure to sing and to be part of this one.”
Maline is an artist and a songwriter who’s originally from Borås, but is based in Stockholm, Sweden since a few years back. She started performing and writing songs at a young age. She grew up in a household where music surrounded her daily. Either it was her father playing blues on the piano, her sister Wiktoria wailing away to a new Whitney Houston song or Malin singing and playing new music in the living room. Music was always around her, and maybe that’s why she decided in a very young age that she wanted to be in the music industry.
She signed her first contract with the label Songs of Sweden just a short time after she moved to Stockholm. Through them she got introduced to the industry and today she is singing and writing with some of the top producers in Sweden.
It's about losing yourself in something; love, drugs, music.

anadian-born pop artist FJØRA has released her debut EP, WATERCOLOR, out today on UNSECRET MUSIC / Tone Tree Music. FJØRA's goal for this debut was to create an instinctual, visceral, and organic sound emanating from her musical heritage.
"WATERCOLOR is my first EP release, which is why it was important to me that it be reflective of the person I am at this moment in time," says Alexandra Petkovski (a.k.a FJØRA). "It's a little weird, a little quirky, dramatic, fun - a bit experimental and an exploration of the kinds of music I love and never thought I could be taken seriously for before. FJØRA means 'rolling tide' and having been strongly connected with water my whole life, it just made sense that this first 'shade' of music I share be encompassed by its name - combining the two most significant things in my life. Water and color. I am truly appreciative of this chance to now let it leave its nest and find its place in all of this beautiful world!"
The Nashville music scene has played a crucial role in the development of her debut EP. Previous singles "Wild Animals" and "Zodiac" were produced by Bryan Todd (Miley Cyrus, Jordin Sparks) and Josh Hawkins (R.L.U.M.R.) respectively, with Michael McEachern lending his talents to "Shallow." And "Magic" features contributions from Nashville hitmakers Sam Tinnesz and Jon Santana.
Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, FJØRA (a.k.a. Alexandra Petkovski) began studying music at an early age. Her father, a professional musician, taught her classical piano, which led to improv jazz, and eventually a keen interest in composition and film scoring. Alexandra went on to study music composition, and received a Masters of Commercial Music in Composition and Arranging from Belmont University in Nashville. She is now a NYC resident, attending NYU's Steinhardt School of Music on a path toward obtaining her PhD in Composition.
"Coming from a really classical and film scoring background, I always felt it was funny how much I enjoyed jamming out to upbeat pop music in my free time," reflects FJØRA. "I believe that in today's commercial music world, there doesn't have to be a divide between creating cinematic compositions and electronic pop music."

"Boy is me to you. It's a straight question – “What's it gonna be? – and your response determines my next move.”
From the age of 15, July 7 has been producing for some of hip-hop’s most notable names, ranging from Travis Scott to T.I. to Young Thug. Now, the singer and multi-instrumentalist from Manchester, UK steps further into the spotlight with his new single and announcement of his forthcoming EP.
After the success of his last three releases, which have collectively pulled in over 2 million streams, and with his single “Talk To Me” reaching the #6 spot on Spotify’s Global charts, July 7 continues to roll out tracks from his debut EP with new single “Boy”. “Boy” is a refreshing, open invitation, to “come and hang”. The dynamic track takes the spirit of bossa nova and combines it with traditional hip-hop production to give listeners a lively Latin vibe, as July 7 asks “What’s it gonna be?”
As a self taught musician, July 7 made expert use of the internet and social media in order to bridge the gap from the UK to the US, which eventually led to him to moving to the states to live and work with the artists who’d originally inspired him to make music. Two years on, July 7 has established himself as a force to be reckoned with, bringing worldwide acclaim and millions of hits to his music, all by the age of 19. Now he is gearing up to release his debut EP “Sweets” on November 17th.
When speaking about the EP he shares, "The EP is a collection of moments I've created and tied together over the past few months. It's all ear candy music, sweet sounds and melodies"
“Boy” is out now, “Sweets” is coming in November, and July 7 is here to stay.
