Jay Z Sends More Subtle Shots At Drake On DJ Khaled's "Shining"
Just when the days of Jay Z and Drake trading sneak-disses seemed behind us, Hov may have just called out the Canadian rhymer on “Shining,” the latest musical offering from DJ Khaled.
After the surprise record dropped Sunday night (February 13), internet sleuths were quick to locate and fastidiously decipher what some see as a diss toward Drizzy.
On “Shining,” which also features Beyoncé, Jay Z raps: “I know you ain’t out here talkin’ numbers, right / I know you ain’t out here talkin’ summers, right / I know you ain’t walkin’ ’round talkin’ down / Sayin’ boss shit when you a runner, right?”
The jab from Jay — who’s known for his many summertime hits — could serve as a response to Drake’s verse on the 21 Savage-assisted “Sneakin.'”
With Drake’s More Life playlist project promised before the end of February, and Jay Z seemingly working on a new project behind the scenes, fans probably won’t have to wait long for the next volley in this war of words.
EJ & JaySpex - Juice
(Los Angeles, CA) Los Angeles-based producer and audio engineer JaySpex announces the release of his latest collaboration with hip hop artist and Track Martians CEO, EJ. The fun and energetic track entitled “Juice,” is about people coming together to celebrate and have a good time.
Jacob Hagopian better known by his stage name as JaySpex, is an Armenian-American record producer, audio engineer, songwriter, and composer. At age 10, he was performing beside his father who was an Armenian-American DJ, and at 12 years old, Jacob began to immerse himself in music production. In 2002 Jacob attended the Los Angeles Recording school. Inspired by his neighbor, producer J. Danielz (KidInk, Tory Lanez, Yung Berg, Nipsey Hussle), he dedicated the next 12 years of his life to studying production and audio engineering while DJing events all around Los Angeles. In 2014, he began creating and producing his own music, drawing inspiration from some of his favorite producers and fusing his work with middle eastern influences. In November of 2016, JaySpex was introduced to Track Martians CEO, Recording Artist and seasoned songwriter, EJ (Ne-Yo, Mann, Leon Thomas, Diamond Strawberry). Impressed by Jayspex’s work ethic and production skills, EJ invited JaySpex to join the Track Martians Production team. “Juice,” is the first single from JaySpex and EJ.

James Chatburn - Omens
James Chatburn has dropped his first single of 2017, after an invitation by LA tastemaker label Soulection to be part of their 6th birthday " Promise Once More " compilation, alongside heavyweights such as IAMNOBODI and ESTA.
"Omens" showcases James' incredible development as an artist. Sparse production built on handcrafted samples, synthesizers, drum machines, guitars and lush vocal layers, "Omens" moves with subtle lifts and drops, drawing on a more minimal approach and allowing the listener to soak in the vocals' melodic and lyrical content.
The Australian singer, songwriter and producer only had one release last year - debut EP 001 , but is gearing up to release a wealth of new music in 2017.
DaiN - All's Calm ft. Black Spade
Mostly known for the hard hitting beats he has crafted for himself, “Treat Yourself” finds DaiN utilizing his unique style to produce for some of the best talents in current Hip-Hop & R&B. The EP features collaborations with Black Spade, LA’s Modern Funk queen Moniquea, Seattle’s Malice & Mario Sweet, Rozzi Daime, and up and coming Portland songstress Blossom.
Drawing inspiration from great producers like J Dilla, DJ Quik, and Kev Brown, DaiN brings a unique swing and style to the table with his signature drums, bass lines, and keys. And, much like DJ Jazzy Jeff’s seminal “The Magnificent”, DaiN’s “Treat Yourself” perfectly melds cutting edge Hip-Hop production with top tier singing and emceeing.
Instantly recognizable with a sound all its own, DaiN’s “Treat Yourself” EP is the release for those who love expertly produced, beat driven R&B and Hip-Hop.

Scotti Bishop - Business
The decision to become a rapper in 2017’s all but watered-down state of hip hop, is often followed by a stream of trolls, eye rolling, and fake positivity from pretty much anyone who has an opinion and internet access. That being said, the decision to drop of school to pursue a career in rap is likely to make that stream exponentially worse and leave friends and family scratching their heads. Yuba City native (and college dropout) Scotti Bishop address some of the backlash he’s received from his ambitious decisions in his new single “Business.” The Canis Major produced track features Scotti aggressively scolding his critics over some “head in the clouds” type of melodies’ provided by Major, taking the song in opposite directions while still maintaining a consistent tone throughout. Bishop referred to “Business” as having a “I’m not mad, i’m disappointed” vibe. Lucky Dice - Memoirs
Boston mainstay Lucky Dice is gearing up to release his hotly anticipated new album, M.O.S.A. (Memoirs of a Starving Artist), in just a few weeks. And based on his new single, “Memoirs,” it’s clear that the rapper is poised to further cement his place in the city’s storied Hip-Hop scene.
The track is a personal and thoughtful look into the life of Dice, who talks candidly about being a struggling underground artist. But he delivers his bars without any bitterness or frustration, just a raw honesty that Hip-Hop heads of all kinds will instantly love. And as for that horns-laden, head-nodding instrumental, it’s from fellow Bostonian Berdz.
Fans of Northeastern rap have become familiar with Dice over the past few decades through his own solo work and frequent collaborations with REKS (who appears on the new album). While Dice has released previous projects such as 2013’s Blowing Smoke, he considers M.O.S.A. his proper debut. So it’s only fitting that the music we’ve heard from it so far— ”The Underground” and “Memoirs”—has been nothing short of outstanding.
“Memoirs” can now be streamed, and is available for download as the first grat track off the iTunes pre-order for M.O.S.A., which drops Friday, February 24th through all major digital retailers and streaming platforms, via Beantown Bullies Music.
