Azad - "MOTTOLA"
After his 2016 effort A Very Emotional EP allotted millions of streams and certified his status as a genuine force within hip-hop, Mind Of A Genius VP Azad is back with a fresh single that takes his sound to new heights. Titled “Mottola,” it’s a wavy joint with a thunderous low-end for Azad to spit serious bars atop (“Fuck a major, I go sign myself, blow up your favorite artist then I’ll co-sign myself”). The track comes equipped with a dynamic music video whose visuals are constantly shifting into psychedelic territory.
On how the track came about, Azad explains “This is my favorite track from my favorite band (THEY.) of 2017. I named the freestyle MOTTOLA because I studied Tommy (and Jimmy Iovine, Dame Dash) like I studied my favorite musicians.” As for its accompanying visuals, he notes “We went on a Europe trip this Summer and shot videos for my entire upcoming project. This one was done in Amsterdam."

Rock (of Heltah Skeltah) - "Rockness A.P." (prod. by The Arcitype)
The latest single from Rock’s highly anticipated solo debut, Rockness A.P., finds the Brownsville native getting brutally honest about his career, and what it means to record without his partner-in-rhyme ( the late Sean Price ).
On “Rockness A.P.”, the gruff-voiced emcee puts aside his trademark tough talk and always-clever bars for an eye-opening look at why it’s taken so long for him to release a proper album on his own. Did you know that his career was put on hold at one point because of the beef between Eminem and Limp Bizkit? How about all that happened during his time away from Duck Down Records?
It’s rare to hear anyone get this candid on a track—nevermind a rapper known for delivering tough bravado with a smirk. But Rock puts it all out there as he learns how to move on following the tragic death of Sean P in August 2015. There’s a lot to unpack on “Rockness A.P.,” and the Monsta explains it all with sincerity and integrity. It makes for one of his strongest tracks to date, and only further builds the anticipation for his proper debut.
“Rockness A.P.” is the fifth instant grat track available for download off the iTunes’ pre-order for, Rockness A.P. The 14 track LP includes guest features from Method Man, Raekwon, Inspectah Deck, M.O.P., Ras Kass, Kuniva (of D12), Ron Browz, and more, and is executed produced by Phil Anastasio (of Blood Before Pride). The album, which is due out Sept 22, is now available for pre-order on CD as well as through the digital retailer of your choice via Digital Déjà Vu Records.

Wallace - "Black Lake"
New Zealand born, Sydney based Wallace is back with another gem in "Black Lake". Co-written with Joel Quartermain (Eskimo Joe), the track is a love song laced with melancholy, which pushes the future-soul singer far out of her thematic comfort zone.
Based around a marimba-led melodic riff (harking back to her steel drum driven single " Raffled Roses "), "Black Lake" brings a dynamic, cinematic side to Wallace's usually upbeat soul sound. Live drums and soaring strings battle with gentle lulls and her exquisite, unique vocal - harking a wonderful growth and dexterity of genre for the jazz trained singer.
""Black Lake" attempts to capture the thoughts of someone who is in love and ready to commit to a person who isn't. After finishing the tune, I was re-watching one of my favourite comedies, The Mighty Boosh, and realised with all the water imagery we'd weaved into our story, we'd accidentally written the song from the point of view of Old Gregg. We hadn't landed on a title at this point so I suggested Black Lake, the home of the Baileys drinking, watercolour painting man himself." - Wallace
Wallace pushes with more of her quality brand of soul music, referencing the best parts of multiple genres to create an enticing sound that is irresistibly smooth, and possessing of a sophisticated sultriness.

THE STORY SO FAR
New Zealand has been a strong breeding ground for neo-soul artists over the years, with names like Kimbra, Electric Wire Hustle, and Fat Freddy's Drop all gaining international acclaim. With all that rich history filling her veins, the now Sydney-based Kiwi might just be the next in line to find success.

Her lyrics are often influenced by literature, evident through the intricate wordplay she weaves to create poignant stories.
Her talents have seen her working with Dutch legends Kraak & Smaak , Australian hip-hop staples Thundamentals , touring and creating with young Zambian born, Australian-based rapper Sampa The Great , laying vocals over beats by Adventures of Godriguez , and working closely with producer Simon Cohen (producer of Justin Bieber's global #1 Song “Love Yourself”).
Wallace has toured with Little Simz (UK), Lemaitre (NOR), Ngaiire, The Kite String Tangle, Kllo, as well playing to crowds at Australian festivals such as Listen Out Festival, Lost Paradise, St Kilda Fest, Hills Are Alive & Bigsound, to name a few.

JOHN.k - "OT"
With depth that accompanies wisdom, the grit of anxiety and influences of yesteryear’s troubadours, enter JOHN.k: a singer-songwriter whose artistry spins on a luminous axis of voice and soul. Following his debut single, "Runnin," which premiered on NYLON in tandem with Spotify's coveted New Music Friday, JOHN.k teamed up with Mad Decent-signed and Grammy Award Winning producer Ricky Remedy and lent his vocals to the EDM-driven “Gold.” The song premiered on HuffPost with backing support from Diplo & Friends and Spinning Records Top 100, and showcases the best of both worlds: JOHN.k's chilling harmonies and gospel undertones propelled by Remedy's lush, electronic instrumentation and crisp sound.
Returning with his second original release, and 1M streams later, JOHN.k delivers the perfect end-of-Summer anthem in “OT” (overtime). A work ethic with ample payoff for whoever is on the receiving end of his soul-pop croon.
“OT is just the vibe! After making a couple darker tracks, I wanted to put something out that leaned more pop. Something brighter. Something totally different in contrast that didn't try too hard and could slideee right in at the end of the summer.
All of us have met someone that we wish we could spend one more day with. Maybe someone who has to go back to their normal life on the other side of the country. OT is about meeting someone from out of town and convincing them to stay for a little bit longer.“ - JOHN.k

C.NOTES - "BUSY BUT MY BILLS PAID"
THE HOTTEST SONG OUT OF BROOKLYN New York RIGHT NOW! EVERYONE CAN RELATE #BUSYBUTMYBILLSPAID
Matt Allen - "Last Time"
Smooth, soulful and sensitive, Matt Allen is a blend between old and new R&B, drawing on influences from Stevie Wonder and Donny Hathaway to Justin Timberlake and Allen Stone. He has been singing since he could speak and having already spent well over a decade on the live scene, Matt is one of Perth’s most sought after male vocalists.
In 2010, he wrote and recorded his debut album, Over. The album’s title track received 8th place in the prestigious 2012 Australian Songwriting Awards, whilst the lead tune, Stay The Night was awarded a Runner Up in the 2012 International Song Contest.
He has currently just released his follow up EP Last Time, which can be described as smooth and soulful R&B/pop.
Last Time is a mid tempo, emotional and dynamic R&B song. The song is about feeling like you can’t help someone who you love get through a tough time. It’s about that feeling of helplessness but also to let the person know that you are there for them. “I feel like everyone has been in that situation, and of course the context may be different, but the feeling is the same. It’s not ‘sad’ but it’s definitely emotional”.
Last Time was produced by Josh Dyson from Villanova Music, Perth. It was recorded at RADA Studios, Perth by Kieran Kenderessy. Featuring musicians; Harry Winton on guitar, Josh Dyson on Bass, Elliot Smith on Drums, Chris Travaglini on keys, Harry Mitchell on keys.
“This song means a lot to me. It’s one of the most personal songs I’ve ever written. I wanted the song to have a sense of timelessness, so I really wanted it to be played by a live band. There’s nothing quite like the dynamics of live musicians and because of the emotional journey in this song, I didn’t think any other type of production could relay it better and the band absolutely smashed it.” - Matt Allen
Aside from being a solo artist, Matt is also the director and founder of the WAAPA Gospel Choir who have worked with the likes of hip hop giants Drapht and Coin Banks (plus some exciting future prospects currently in the works). Matt personally collaborated with Coin Banks in writing the chorus of his new single ‘Forgive Us’ which has been receiving a load of airplay on Triple J and other stations nationally.
‘Last Time’ by MATT ALLEN is out now via digital stores.

Six months ago, Gold/Shade started his journey with the release of ‘My Muse’ and it’s been a crazy ride ever since. A ride that will reach its pinnacle next month, with the release of his debut album ‘Halcyon’.
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves and first get to the Lighthouse. Which is also the name the name of his new single. A song with a hook that shines so bright, the lyrics will be burned into your memory after just one listen. And never ever leave. Ever. Which isn’t half as creepy as you might think.
No really, Lighthouse might be the sweetest song ever written about nautical equipment. So, let this song be your beacon for the coming months and just follow the Light. House.
