Hip-Hop has its eclipse anthem with SmCity's new Cookin' Soul produced single "Apocalypto"

The impending solar eclipse set to sweep across America draws so many parallels to what's happening right now in this country. This was the inspiration behind the song for SmCity, making him think about things that swept through his life and eclipsed everything like falling in love with music. Cultures have worshiped the eclipse since the beginning of time, some seeing it as symbolizing doom, others as a new beginning.
"I align with the latter," says SmCity. "just as Mel Gibson's classic film of the same name does. New beginnings."
Grandson of the first black journalist for the Washington Post, Nephew of the Final Call newspaper's Editor-In-Chief and son of a writer/social activist, SmCity was literally born to narrate the struggle. His come-up in Washington, DC has epitomized the rebellious spirit of his music; championing "the indie Life" in the face of all corporate interests, cultural trends and common stereotypes. Aside from being respected as one of his cities most skillful lyricists, his reputation for innovative music videos, groundbreaking concerts and unparalleled hustle extend far beyond just the realm of hip-hop.
