Bay Ledges, the glitchy indie-pop group led by siblings Zach & Georgina Hurd, will release the new EP, FOUNTAIN TROPICAL, on Friday, 8/18, on S-Curve Records.
Bay Ledges self-released the song, "Safe," late last fall and it unexpectedly and rapidly hit three million streams on Spotify. It was at the urging of family and friends that principal band member Zach Hurd even released the song, so its success was most unexpected to him. Making no effort to promote it, within weeks, the track landed on Spotify's "Fresh Finds" playlist, then shot up the Global Viral chart. "At the time I was in Williamsburg, Virginia, helping to clear out my grandparents' old house," recalls Hurd, "Every day I'd wake up to something new. It was so surreal -like, 'This unbelievable thing is happening, and I'm alone in Colonial Williamsburg.'" The band currently reside in Los Angeles, however they are originally from Bath, ME, and the band take their name from a plot of land that the Hurds’ grandparents owned in Maine. In addition to the success at Spotify, the song was selected a "Today's Top Tune" at KCRW. The video for "Safe" recently premiered via Ones To Watch.

Lyrics:
Mickey says to retire I been down in the fire just barely getting by for a brawl
And you’re working at the pet store quietly wondering if anybody sees you at all
Darling I’ve been payin attention…cracking bad jokes just to ease the tension
If I could only prove to you that we go together like ice skates and ice skaters do
Mickey says I’m a faker a real leg breaker and a second-rate loan shark at best
It’s a living for me but there’s more I could be no wonder he never seems too impressed
All I really want is you to come upstairs so I can show you a thing or two
No it ain’t the title dear, but I gotta take a shot at something before I disappear
Adrian, I was a goner then…
…I was a goner then you came along
Mickey’s changing his tune now that I’m shooting the moon and I might have a chance at the belt
I been wakin up at dawn I been training so long just to hold on to the hand I was dealt
And everybody wants a piece but I’d rather give you every little bit of me
Will you hold me in your wings? Tell me that fifteen rounds ain’t the craziest thing
Adrian, I was a goner then…
…I was a goner then you came along
I don’t wanna waste my life
Even if it’s mine to waste
I don’t wanna die alone and be replaced
Everybody needs someone
To share those lonely thoughts
Even a raging stallion’s heart gets caught
Adrian I know I can’t beat him
Maybe I can only make it through
Even if I go down swinging
I promise I will still come up for you
I was wasting away like a cold philly day just barely making money for bills
You were living at home with your brother afraid you might never make it out for a thrill
Looking back it’s hard to say if you saved me or if things went the other way
Darling you’re worth fighting for, step in my ring give me more give me more give me more
Adrian, I was a goner then…
…I was a goner then you came along

The world can be a heavy place. Some of us allow the weight of our problems to hold us down. Others set limits on ourselves and what we can accomplish. Astronaut is all about blasting off past those problems and defying the gravitational pull that tries to keep us from reflecting greatness. The astronaut in the song is focused on exploring a new world without limits, he is seeking new destinations, and getting high above the gravitational pull.

Jesse Bland aka Jay Hunna is a music artist from the south side of Chicago, IL.
Jay grew up listening to a diverse span of music genres and gets his inspiration from Hip-Hop legends such as Jay Z, Tupac, Notorious BIG and countless others. Jay does not define his music as any one genre of music, but it is commonly heard as hip hop fused over R&B and Jazz tracks.
The inspiration for his debut album "Better Days" comes from the tragic death of his cousin Sandra Bland which sparked nationwide attention in July 2015. Sandra Bland closes out the album on the track entitled "Land Of The Free".
Jay's unique approach to music allows him to create story telling songs that leave listeners with a feeling of joy. Jay skillfully articulates that because one comes from humble beginnings, doesn't mean you must stay there.
“Good music translates in all languages. It creates a feeling of happiness and joy in most people, so I just want to reach every language and give them that experience” -Jay Hunna

The official artist's statement for the song featured in the video ("Who Are We Gonna Be"):
"While witnessing our beloved world over the past few years we feel like everything is falling apart.Thats why the message of this song is heartfeltly crucial to us. Driven by fat synthesizer bass lines and colourful piano chords, the song deals with the paralytic feeling of disconnection in our community and not being able to bear all the anguish in our world. But as the harmonies become more lucid, with crystalline piano chords, the listener is asked to „share their light“.
We believe that every living creature has the capability to share light, give love and likewise conquer darkness and dread. In a way the question „Who are we gonna be?“ affects everyone personally as well as collectively.
Who am I choosing to be? Who are we gonna be as humanity? What are we passing on for coming generations?
The answer which we are certain about ist that light has the power to overcome the dark. Share your light!"
Ukraine's Ivan Dorth takes on high school politics in his latest video for "Beverly".
The video offers a behind the scenes look at the queens of campus, as viewers are shown the underbelly of teenage society.
A community hindered by side eye, wholesome tears, and sweet rebellion, youth has never looked so good.
BIO:
Its difficult to imagine the post-soviet pop scene without the controversial story of Ivan Dorn.
In 2011 the tall blond Ukrainian became an overnight sensation with his debut album ‘Co’n’Dorn’. His unique blend of 90s house, pop, nu-disco, funk and free jazz, came as a breath of fresh air to the suffocated Eastern Europe pop scene. The well-crafted compilation of catchy pop tunes brought the 23 year old into the spotlight. His fashion-forward style, controversial public appearances, fancy footwork and contagious personality caught on like wild fire. Within months Ivan Dorn and his band filled sports arenas around the country and he quickly earned a spot as a judge on The Voice Ukraine.
In 2014, just when it seemed like Ivan would follow the footsteps of most modern pop stars with radio-friendly hits and overproduced music videos, he dropped, “Randorn”, an album that would redefine him as an artist and bridge the gap between the underground and the mainstream. The masterpiece featured an odd selection of unique tracks sounding anywhere from Aphex Twins to Kavinski passing through Pharrell Williams. Although it was initially received with mixed feelings, the record quickly topped the charts and had audiences dancing from the VIP areas of the high society to the basements of the underground.
In 2016, Ivan started Masterskaya, an independent music label focused on bringing the exciting sound of Ukrainian underground to the main stage. Out of the blue, the 28 year old artist moved to Los Angeles to start recording his first English-language album, and quickly found himself inspired by the ocean breeze and palm trees. His US debut album is now on its way, and with feature a tight selection of tracks that, like Ivan, don’t follow the rules.
If there is one thing we’ve learned about Ivan over the years, is that if you think you have him all figured out, you are probably already one step behind.

Premiered by DIY Magazine earlier today, British songstress Mahalia has unveiled the hazy video to accompany her stunning first official single “Sober”.
“A hazy, booze-fuelled wander through the remnants of a house party, the video perfectly encapsulates that early morning wooziness” quotes DIY. The track; a rich slice of R&B that recalls the likes of Erykah Badu, Sade and Lauryn Hill, is sprinkled with originality and pushed into the present day. “I’m sorry that there ain’t no time left, you and I are over, me and you are done,” she sings, her warm tones melding into the illustrious, groove-laden beat, her words hitting straight to the heart. The track is quintessentially Mahalia – encompassing the classic sounds of the past while refusing to be hemmed in by one particular genre; her open-hearted lyricism holding it all together like magic dust.
“Finally! I've been waiting to share this with you and now I can! Here's the video for my debut single #SOBER. This story is totally about the morning after. Thinking about the night before - all the mistakes you made, all the muddled texts you sent. I always talk about how this song is a representation of realising a situation is not good for you and getting yourself out of it. This is me waking up and smelling the roses. Now that I am sober..."
At 12 years old – the age most of us are aimlessly riding bikes or trying to avoid homework – Mahalia was picking up a guitar and penning love songs. With her entrancing, soulful tones, wise yet relatable wordplay and intuitive sense of melody, it quickly became clear that she had a natural sense of musicality, and that she’d be doing this for the rest of her life.
Now 19 and based in Leicester, Mahalia is ready to fully unleash what she’s been brewing into the world. In the time since she first picked up that guitar, she’s dropped a scattering of releases – from 2012’s indie-flecked acoustic dream “Head Space” to 2015’s gorgeously understated 4-track EP “Never Change” – which was premiered on i-D – and last year’s genre-flipping mixtape “Diary of Me”, picking up praise from the likes of The Independent and MTV. In 2015, her unique voice caught the attention of Rudimental, who asked her to feature on their easy-going summer anthem “We the Generation”, pushing her name to a wider audience in the process. But for Mahalia, it feels as if she’s just getting started.
