Today, Sydney’s What So Not reveals the sci-fi-esque video for “Better” ft LPX (dir. Mafalda Millies) HERE on the eve of his seven date co-headline tour with US beat master Baauer – a B2B made in bass heaven. On “Better” Emoh teams up with LPX, solo moniker of Lizzy Plapinger of American duo MS MR.
Video director Mafalda Millies says: “Playing off the premise “I’m Better Than...”, this music video features Emoh and Lizzy captured in a visually oversaturated cyber void, dominated with footage surrounding the notions of temptation and seduction; of simulacra and simulations.
All visuals are layered and combined with animated, digital graphics, pie charts, numbers—An overload to the senses highlighting the degree to which we are consumed, distracted and controlled by the flood of content directed at us daily. This collage-based video is made up of both, original footage and found footage; and was very much inspired by artist Stan VanDerBeek’s “Movie Mural” (1968).”
“Better” debuted live at What So Not’s headline Coachella slot in the Gobi tent where audiences experienced the Australian producer’s full artistic vision, a giant chrome horse on monster truck wheels rivaling a hollywood film set. Since the live reveal, bootleg versions of “Better” have been eagerly sought after by fans and is now available here. Emoh explains "I had a few productions I’d been working on in this sonic field but struggled to find a vocalist with the right attitude and tone to fit. Lizzy and I clicked instantly on this trajectory and began jamming on the tune.”
The last year has shaped up to be one of the most significant periods in What So Not’s career; he delved into writing & co-direct music videos, such as EP title track “Divide & Conquer” & “Trust” which features model, actor and dancer Shaun Ross, and produced now staple festival anthems: “Divide & Conquer”, a remix of RÜFÜS’s “Innerbloom” , and a collaboration with Skrillex and RL Grime on “Waiting” . He contrasted these dancefloor ready tracks with an eclectic mix of softer soundscapes release on his debut solo Divide & Conquer EP, as well as dabbling in production for Albanian pop star Era Istrefi on her hit ‘Redrum’.
About LPX:
After coming off the road with MS MR a year ago the newly solo LPX, released two critically acclaimed singles, “Tremble”and “Tightrope” and performed a string of sold out headline performances and support spots for heavyweights Haim and RAC across North-America on separate tours. LPX’s debut release is slated for later this Fall.

Fresh off the heels of his latest visual, Train Of Thought picking up traction online and having a stint of going viral via popular platform UNILAD, London based rapper, AKS, keeps up the ante taking to the stage at the prestigious Sofar Sounds, which has played host to budding talents in intimate shows across the world as well as UK juggernauts. The likes of Emeli Sande, Lianne La Havas, Gregory Porter, Rag’n’Bone Man, & Ed Sheeran (to name a few) have all graced these stages and now we see AKS join the ranks of brilliant artists the platform has taken a shining to.
Accompanied by the amazing live band that’s seen him be championed across London’s live circuit, the three letter man delivers an emotionally charged performance of “The Dialogue (Talk to Me)” which appears on his Unsigned Music Award nominated “ Train of Thought EP ”, released last May.
Impassioned lyrics abound in this gripping performance as AKS painfully explores themes surrounding societal pressures, struggles with mental health, the feeling of being alone and the use of his music as a therapeutic outlet.
It’s clear that raw emotive delivery is fast becoming AKS’ trademark calling card and there’s heaps of it here in this soul stirring performance. A definite must watch.

Those Wicked Hours - "Run" [Video]
The clip to the song "Run" is a playable jump’n’run style video game as well as a music video. It plays in Miami in the 80s. Its goal is to bring the band to the stage while collecting as many coins and golden girls as possible, and while hitting aggressive bouncers or avoiding crazy groupies. It was produced by Marco Von Moos, a filmmaker and programmer (Winner of Zurich Film Festival Award).
Mahalia - "Hold On" Ft. Buddy [Audio Video]
Produced by Nana Rogues (Drake) and Jay Prince, “Hold On” is a perfect example of the truly relatable song writing that Mahalia has become so well known for.
The track; a rich slice of R&B and Pop-flecked jam, sprinkled with originality and pushed into the present day is quintessentially Mahalia – encompassing the classic sounds of the past while refusing to be hemmed in by one particular genre; her open-hearted lyricism holding it all together like magic dust.
"Hold On was a tune that needed to come out of me for a long time and it finally did when I stumbled upon an old flame of mine in my home town. It's a long story so I won't go into it... however, I originally wrote "Hold On" in the studio with Jay Prince. I then had a little session with 'Buddy' during his recent trip to London and he came at me with the geezas perspective...! Have a listen – hope you enjoy.”
Mahalia released her debut single “Sober” back in July, which to date has amassed over 2 million streams, and saw her grace the Berlin online platform COLOR’s last month, where her performance of “Sober” accumulated over 250k views in just five days ( link ). She subsequently sold-out her first London show and further announced a second at Hoxton Bar & Grill on Wednesday 15th of November – ( tickets here ). In addition, the songstress will be touring the UK & Ireland on a 9-date tour later this month – ( tickets here).
At 12 years old – the age most of us are aimlessly riding bikes or trying to avoid homework – Mahalia was picking up a guitar and penning love songs. With her entrancing, soulful tones, wise yet relatable wordplay and intuitive sense of melody, it quickly became clear that she had a natural sense of musicality, and that she’d be doing this for the rest of her life.
Now 19 and based in Leicester, Mahalia is ready to fully unleash what she’s been brewing for so many years into the world. In the time since she first picked up that guitar, she’s dropped a scattering of releases – from 2012’s indie-flecked acoustic dream “Head Space” to 2015’s gorgeously understated 4-track EP “Never Change” – and last year’s genre-flipping mixtape “Diary of Me”. But for Mahalia, it feels as if she’s just getting started.
