Sasha Keable - "That's The Shit"
At just 24 years old, South-London native Sasha Keable is a breath of fresh air. Returning today after a four-year hiatus, the songstress has unveiled her outstanding new offering ‘That’s The Shit’.
Sasha’s remarkable song-writing has certainly gained perspective in the last four years – her lyrics always seem to be either asking or answering questions. This idea of pretending to be something you’re not is a topic she tackles on her release today. Packed with jazz inflections, fluttering melodies and pitch shifted guitars, the track is led by Sasha’s brassy vocals that unpack all the different types of fronts people put on for others.
"‘That’s The Shit’ was written over three years ago with a producer called Prgrshn. It’s a bit of a piss take to all the men who go to clubs to buy bottles with money they don’t really have and the women who hover around them just to get a few drinks or a shag....!" – Sasha says of the record.
Keable was raised on Soul and Hip Hop, with some of her main influences being Donny Hathaway, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye and Lauryn Hill and her eclectic tastes manifest themselves in her song writing and arrangements.
Although, she may seem a new face to some, she's no stranger to success and working hard. In the time since she first picked up a mic she’s dropped a scattering of releases – from 2013’s dream ‘Black Book’ to 2014’s gorgeously understated 4-track EP ‘Lemongrass & Limeleaves’ however, 2018 will see Sasha stand at the forefront of London’s young and fiendishly talented singer/songwriters with a collaborative ethic and Brit school pedigree.
