Mr. J1S, Champz, Noodle Noo, Khakolak Boy - "This Ain't Lust"
With "This Ain't Lust," the distinguished lyricists on the Urbanizm Music label paint a story that speaks to a profound message: there’s more to a woman than just her body and sensuality; the brilliance of one’s brain has the potency to magnetically draw attention alike. This song is relatable to the masses and intriguing in that the vocalist is fiercely attracted to the female lead’s mind instead of the frequent “full-bodied, pretty-faced” persona that is so fetishized in the music industry.
Artists featured on the track include Mr. J1S on the first verse, Champz on the second verse, Noodle Noo (who is returning after announcing his candidacy for Mayor of Peekskill, New York) on the third verse, and Khakolak Boy on the final verse. In the coming weeks, you can expect some more frustratingly dope content from the label. The direction in which the music group aims to take its music is unprecedented territory, and it is certainly one you do not want to sleep on!

Secret Weapons - "Ghost"
“Ghost” is the first song out today from Secret Weapons’ debut album. Hailing from New York City, Secret Weapons managed to combine the dark and youthful themes of hope, struggle, and yearning with gripping synth and guitar driven rock music. The two-piece met in high school and the first incarnation of the band began by writing in a studio apartment by day and throwing parties in Brooklyn by night -- most of which quickly descended into chaos. Influenced by a range of styles, from Queen, Steve Winwood, and the Killers to the soundscapes of Depeche Mode and Daft Punk, they soon began to apply their pop and gospel-influenced hooks to the wall-of-sound backdrops they created. In late 2015 their debut single “Something New” sky-rocketed to the top of Spotify’s Global Viral Charts. The duo’s energetic live performances endeared them to crowds, and as their popularity continued to rise in 2016 they released their first self-titled EP and went on to perform alongside Weezer, Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco and Lukas Graham before appearing at Lollapalooza and several other major U.S festivals.
Future Prospect - "B.A.M."
A septet from Richmond, VA fusing a multitude of genres around the jazz tradition.

Patch - "Tobacco"
Free from any conceptual notions this time round, the north Londoner has delivered a free flowing collection of songs, exchanging typical song structures with emotions. The aim was to let the music flow out naturally, regardless of whether they fitted into any traditional format. He furthers this by saying;
“It was also written at a time when I having to remind myself to be true to who I am and have less regard for what anyone else thinks , hence the hyphen in the title.”
Lead track ‘Tobacco’ fits this ethos perfectly, with no set structure of verse, chorus breakdown, Patch has focused more on feeling, inwardly looking lyrics and a relentless flow. He explains;
“Tobacco is simply a release of thoughts that were circling through my head at the time, it’s freeness is pretty much a blueprint for the E.P.”
2016 was a breakthrough year for the burgeoning wordsmith. Tracks such as ‘Point Of View’, ‘90s’ and ‘Sketchbook’ followed the EP ‘Space Between The Heartbeats’ all of which helped establish Patch as a one to watch after being championed by platforms such as Complex, Indie Shuffle, MTV, SBTV and Reprezent.
There is an obvious duality to Patch’s music, whilst not afraid to tackle personal issues and contemplative moods in his more chilled tracks, he also covers more basic and carnal instincts of a 20 something in London. Coining the philosophy which ties all his music together as ‘Embracing Your Contradictions’, he describes this ethos as "a way of encouraging myself and others to express all elements of who they are, even the bits that don't make sense to the rest of the world."
To celebrate ‘Embrace Your Contradictions’ Patch has announced a new clothing brand, kicking things off with ‘EYC’ T-shirts available online here

Taylor Kelly - "Do U Feel Me"
BIO: Taylor Kelly was born & raised in Rochester, NY and now happily resides in Philadelphia (after graduating Berklee College of Music in Boston in 2014 and needing a change of scenery to rediscover herself). Taylor has a voice that blends both the smoothness and rhythmic nature of jazz, soul and funk. Her tasteful songwriting tells tales of truth in hopes to inspire many to love, live and let go. Also a trumpet player, she proves the importance of a strong horn section and hot horn lines and strives for a vocal approach that is reminiscent of many of her trumpet playing influences that are both rhythmic and improvisational in nature (Chet Baker, Roy Hargrove and Miles Davis to name a few). Her musical stylings are reflective of Erykah Badu and Stevie Wonder as they possess what she believes to be the true essence of music- harmonic complexity, strong melodic contour and lyrical honesty with an absolutely relentless underlying groove. She releases her third studio album, DO U FEEL ME, on June 23rd and you can be sure to be up off your feet (in dance, in praise, in disbelief, in what-have-you). If you are to ever toy with her heart, you will likely get a song full of stank with an optimistic twist out of it. taylorkellymusic.com || facebook.com/taylorkellyjams
