COUNTERFEIT. - 11:44 [Review] January 25, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music, Indie Rock, Punk Rating: 4 out of 5 “Jumping right in with the opening line ... ‘Raise your middle finger, gotta let them know,’ COUNTERFEIT. wastes no time bringing energy and passion to their latest single ‘11:44.’ The track came to me labeled as Indie Rock, but in a lot of ways it feels more Punk to me than anything else. The lyrics are calling for change and engagement with the world around us. This is a rocking political track full of energy and solid writing. A high-energy song urging action.” — Travis Erwin (LA on Lock Blogger)
Chasbo Zelena - Indignation [Music Video Review] January 20, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Punk Rating: 4 out of 5 “This track came to me labelled as Punk, but I’d describe it more as Electric Blues, or ZZ Top with a Euro edge. Hard guitar riffs and a gospel like vocal delivery an anthem to counter culture and indignant social commentary. Which is perfect for a track titled ‘Indignation.’ Chasbo Zelena hails from Slovakia and this track intrigued me enough that I will go seek other works. This track isn’t exactly a commercial fit that you are likely to hear on the radio, but if you want a hard-driving single to blare through your speakers this is one to add to your playlist.” — Travis Erwin (LA on Lock Blogger)
The Duplo - Yeah! (It Ain't Easy) [Music Video Review] January 03, 2020 by Travis Erwin in Lyric Video, Punk Rating: 4 out of 5 “Punk is not dead. There are a lot of bands that can bring the punk sound, but far too few that truly capture the intelligent defiance that once upon a time defined the genre. The Duplo have captured that brand of rebellion here with a hard-charged melody, beat, and spot-on vocals delivering a direct yet meaningful set of lyrics. Coming out of Finland, this is a band with something to say, and the the bad ass chops to say it with fire and fury.” — Travis Erwin (LA on Lock Blogger)
No Time For Reason - Catfish [Review] November 27, 2019 by Travis Erwin in Music, Indie Rock, Punk, Pop Rating: 4 out of 5 “A Punk Pop anthem that delivers an energetic punch. ’Catfish’ is about exactly what you think it is, but that predictability is not a negative, because the band goes full throttle start to finish. ” — Travis Erwin (LA on Lock Blogger)
Felin - Money Honey [Music Video Review] October 29, 2019 by Travis Erwin in Music Videos, Commercial, Punk Rating: 4 out of 5 “Pinpointing exactly what I love about this track is tough. There is an undeniable energy to the performance, and the video is wryly funny. The overall sound here us Euro Punk in nature and the overall project of song/video carries the same European flavor throughout. Well worth a watch and a listen.” — Travis Erwin (LA on Lock Blogger)
Notel Motel - Soviet Cigarettes [Review] October 10, 2019 by Travis Erwin in Music, Punk, Indie Rock Rating: 4 out of 5 “With a melody that would feel at home in a James Bond flick, and vocals leaning toward the Punk side of rock, Notel Motel offers a unique blend of sounds. But the real hook here is the mesmerizing lyrics that keep you listening while wondering WTF they are going to say next. That is not to say the lyrics are ambiguous. No, they are simply unpredictable in all the best ways. ” — Travis Erwin (LA on Lock Blogger)
Slim Tin Fox - Molly [Review] October 04, 2019 by Travis Erwin in Music, Punk Rating: 4 out of 5 “With full on Punk bravado, Slim Tin Fox delivers attitude straight from Dublin in this snarling ode to Molly. We’ve all known a Molly.” — Travis Erwin (LA on Lock Blogger)
