Dreamville's Cozz Talks Upcoming Album 'Revenge Of The Dreamers III,' Plus Signing & Touring With J. Cole On New Digital Series 'MLTD Presents: The Grinds TV with Bobby James
Premier retailer of street fashion MLTD debuts the fifth installment to its new digital interview series, 'The Grinds TV with Bobby James,' featuring Los Angeles rapper and Dreamville Records signee Cozz.
On episode five, Cozz explains how his competitive nature led him to music around age 16 -- this after making a bet with friends to see who had the best verse. The rapper's passion for sports soon evolved to one for rapping and writing. Coupled with his Nigerian father's love for Reggae and Hip-Hop playing around the house, Cozz continued honing on his skills, which eventually granted him his own label, Tha Committee, and landed him in front J. Cole to then be signed to his Interscope Records imprint, Dreamville Records.
Also, he talks debuting his first album with Dreamville, 'Cozz & Effect,' 2018's 'Effected,' touring with Cole on his '2014 Forest Hills Drive Tour,' and attending the label's recent recording sessions for the upcoming compilation album, 'Revenge of the Dreamers III.' In addition to 'ROTD3,' the rapper continues to tease his own project, 'We Tight ASF,' featuring, friends and his label Tha Committee's signees, Correy C and Kyle Banks.
'The Grinds TV,' presented by MLTD, offers "intelligent conversations at the intersection of Hip-Hop, Fashion and Sports." With Los Angeles, Hip-Hop & streetwear culture at the forefront, the series comes to life through creators Byze One, a 25+ year music industry vet that's worked with everyone from Kanye West to Kid Cudi to Kendrick Lamar to Damian Marley, and Eric Flores, who started off in the music industry at Interscope Records and stands as the men’s buyer for MLTD. The show is filmed at Harun Coffee in historic Leimert Park, a coffee shop owned by ASAP Rocky’s manager Chace Infinite.
